A guide for hosts
What does a holiday rental website cost?
At Zauzeto a website for a holiday apartment costs from €399 including VAT, with the first year of hosting and a .hr or .com domain included. From the second year you pay €99 a year for hosting, the domain and every change. Here is everything that affects the price, with a five-year example.

1. What does it cost, in short?
A simple website for one holiday apartment or home costs from €399 at Zauzeto. The price includes a custom design, text in your guests’ languages, a calendar with the price of the stay and an enquiry form, the first year of hosting and a .hr or .com domain. From the second year the site is €99 a year, with hosting, the domain and every change. All prices include VAT.
Over five years that is €795 in total, or about €159 a year. For comparison: with 120 nights at €80 and 15% commission, a platform takes about €1,440 in a single year.
For a market comparison: on the price lists of Croatian studios we looked at in October 2026, a simple website costs roughly €300 to €900, and sites with more pages over €1,000. Some also charge separately for yearly upkeep or the domain, so always compare the cost of the second year too.
2. What does the price depend on?
Three things set the final price, and all three are in the quote before any work starts:
- The number of units. Each unit has its own photos, prices and calendar. More than one unit? Get in touch and the quote will price your place.
- The number of languages. We write in Croatian and in the languages your guests speak most, usually English, German and Italian.
- Extra features. For example a booking engine with card payments, or separate pages for trips, a restaurant or rentals.
The .hr or .com domain, hosting and changes to the existing site don’t change the price. They are always included.
3. What does a website cost per year?
Every website has three running costs: the domain (an address like yourplace.com), hosting (the server the site runs on) and upkeep (changing prices, text and photos). When they are billed separately, you only see the yearly total once all the invoices arrive.
At Zauzeto all three are in one fee of €99 a year, and in the build price in the first year. The subscription renews every year until you cancel. We send a reminder and the invoice at least 30 days before, and you can cancel anytime with one form. New features, new pages or new languages aren’t changes, so we quote for them separately.
4. Do it yourself, a booking engine or a studio?
There are three usual routes to your own website, and each costs money and time differently. The example is for one apartment.
| Route | First year | 5 years | Commission or fee per booking | Your time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yourself, in a website builder | builder subscription + domain (depends on the builder) | depends on the builder | none, unless you add card payments | the most: text in foreign languages, photos, legal pages and upkeep |
| Booking engine with a subscription | from about €28 a month | about €1,680 | 0.9% per booking on the flexible plan | setting up the system and the site |
| Studio (Zauzeto) | €399 | €795 | none | photos and details; we write the text |
Free builder plans usually have no own domain and show the builder’s branding. The booking engine figures are from the price list of one of the larger systems, checked on 10 October 2026; such a system makes sense with many units and platforms. A studio charges for the build once, then a yearly fee: at Zauzeto €399, then €99 a year.
If you make the site yourself, we describe the process step by step in the guide how to make a holiday rental website.
15% commission on 120 nights at €80 comes to about €7,200 over the same five years. A website doesn’t replace the platforms, but every night a guest books directly stays with you.
5. Is there commission on bookings from your own website?
Not on the websites we build. The guest sends an enquiry or a booking request, and you agree the deposit and payment directly, usually by bank transfer. So there is no commission and no card fee.
If you want guests to pay by card without you, you need a booking engine or a payment provider, and they charge a subscription or a fee per transaction. For a small property that is often more than it needs.
6. When does a website pay for itself?
At €80 a night and 15% commission, every night a guest books directly leaves you €12 more. A €399 website pays for itself after 34 direct nights. From the second year, at €99 a year, 9 direct nights a year are enough.
Croatian hosts on the flat-rate tax scheme also pay 25% VAT on foreign platforms’ commission, so every direct night leaves €15 more. Try your own numbers in the commission calculator.
7. What is included, and what isn’t?
- In €399: custom design, text in your guests’ languages, a calendar with the price of the stay and an enquiry form, gallery, map and directions, a phone-first layout, a privacy notice, the first year of hosting and a .hr or .com domain.
- In €99 a year: hosting, a .hr or .com domain and every change to the existing site: prices, text, photos, dates and colours, usually within three working days.
- In a separate quote: new features, new pages, new languages and other domain endings.
You pay only after you approve the design, by bank transfer within 8 days. It is all in our terms of business, in force from 10 October 2026.

8. What to check in a quote
When you compare quotes, ask these. The answers should be in the quote, not only in a conversation.
- Whose name is the domain in? It should be yours, so you keep it if you change provider.
- Can you take the site with you? If you leave, you should get the site’s files.
- Is VAT included? So the invoice holds no surprises.
- What does the yearly fee cover? Hosting, domain and changes, and whether changes are limited.
- Is there commission or a fee per booking?
- How many units and languages are in the price?
- When do you pay? Up front, or only once you see the design.
- Who writes the text and the legal pages? A privacy notice and the host’s details must be on the site.
